In early 2021, the Roanoke Valley Preservation Foundation’s Tours and Interpretive Panels Committee completed the text and graphics for an interpretive marker about the history of Preston Place, the oldest standing house in Salem, VA. In addition to the Roanoke Valley Preservation Foundation, the marker is sponsored by Salem Museum and Historical Society. The Gropen, Inc. sign company of Charlottesville produced the 24″ x 36 ” marker and the City of Salem will install it at Preston Place site. The marker was unveiled on Friday, December 3, 2021.
