Our annual “Pints for Preservation Pub Crawl & History Scavenger Hunt” returns this fall on October 5, 2024 as Roanoke Valley Preservation Foundation (RVPF) once again hosts this exciting annual fundraising event. The pub crawl & scavenger hunt is a fun way to learn more about Roanoke’s historic landscape while helping both organizations raise money to further their missions of preserving the valley’s most important architectural and cultural icons.
The Roanoke Valley Preservation Foundation is the region’s leading non-profit advocacy and education organization focusing on the Roanoke Valley’s historic landmarks. This is an afternoon scavenger hunt loaded with history, entertainment, and beverages, winding through the streets of downtown Roanoke. All proceeds support the Roanoke Valley Preservation Foundation’s advocacy and education goals for architectural, cultural, and social heritage throughout the Roanoke Valley.

About the “Pints for Preservation Pub Crawl & History Scavenger Hunt” :
Participants compete for prizes by completing a fun history-themed scavenger hunt featuring questions about people and places important to Roanoke’s past while enjoying a variety of food and beverages at various city pubs along the way!
Participants meet at a central location beginning at 2:00 p.m. to check-in, sign a liability waiver, and to pick-up their pub crawl swag and scavenger hunt scorecard. They then proceed on their way, at their own pace and in their own order to the participating pubs where discounted food and beverages await.
Only participants wearing their event identification qualify for the drink and food specials available at each establishment participating on the pub crawl. However, no purchase is required to receive a stamp for answering the trivia questions asked at each pub along the way.
The event concludes at 5:00 p.m. at a designated location where participants turn in their scavenger hunt answers. The scorecards are tallied and the prize winners are announced.
Participating teams and participants are encouraged to dress in historical fashion–“dress your decade”–and doing so will provide them with one free scavenger hunt answer, giving them a leg-up on receiving one of the many prizes awarded at the event’s conclusion!
Previous year prizes have included outstanding dinners on the town, overnight stays at local hotels and B&Bs, artwork, gifts and more donated by friends and sponsors of the event.
